I acquired my first Rottweiler in late 1988, and I was instantly hooked on these marvelous dogs. Over the years I have greatly enjoyed the companionship of this breed. I have learned to appreciate lots of different activities with my dogs. I've titled dogs in the AKC and UKC Breed and Obedience rings. I have enjoyed competing in German Style shows as well, earning V ratings on several dogs. I have been an American Rottweiler Club member since 1991. I'm also active in our local Breed and All Breed clubs. I have a deep love and respect for the Rottweiler, and a strong committment to preserving it as a DOCKED breed.
Acquisition of a Rottweiler (or any pet) should be a carefully thought out and well researched decision. Rottweilers are marvelous companions and family dogs if properly bred and socialized, however, it cannot be emphasized enough how important early and continued formal training, and good fencing is for this breed. Find more breed specific information on this page.
If you are searching for a breeder, realize that good breeders have spent years educating themselves, and understand that breeding is a serious endeavor. Good breeders try to give their puppies the very best start in life possible, first by beginning with the very best parents. Responsible breeders use dogs who have PROVEN THEMSELVES through competition to be correct specimens with correct temperament. Breeding partners are carefully evaluated and matched to enhance their good qualities, and offset or minimize their faults. Breedings should always planned with improvement in mind.
In addition, caring breeders select dogs for breeding who have on record and open to public view health testing for Hips, Elbows, Heart, and Eyes, at a minimum. For the future protection and improvement of the Rottweiler breed, we require the same testing be done on ALL our puppies, also with the release of all results for public view, whether normal or abnormal. Having this documented information on hand is INVALUABLE to others in the future when they are doing their own research trying to plan healthy litters. It is imperitive that ALL puppies be health screened, even those who may never be bred.
At 7 weeks, breeders will examine puppies to evaluate for temperament, dominance, drive to retrieve, resistance and recovery from stressful experiences, and pain tolerance. Many evaluate these things by using the Puppy Aptitude Test developed by Joachim and Wendy Volhard. Good breeders place puppies between the ages of 8 and 10 weeks generally, and always sell puppies with a written contract and guarantee.
We do not plan any Rottweiler litters anytime in the near future. However, if you are a caring responsible person who is devoted to this breed, please contact us. We are always happy to recommend other good breeders who are breeding quality dogs in a responsible manner.
We would really love to know if you have visited. Please take just a moment and leave your pawprint in our guestbook. |
